DAY THREE - 26/07/11 - IT'S TIME TO PARTY!

Once again, I was woken up by Mike's raptor at 6:30 and after a quick shower, went down to breakfast. At breakfast we were told that today was effectively a 'free' day and that there was lots of things we could go to do around the city.
So, after breakfast, I packed a day sack with the usual things + my swimming kit, and we headed off to swim in river which goes through Copenhagen. On the way, we stopped off at our local children's playground and spent about 10 minutes playing there. After about a half an hour walk, we saw, on the other side of the river, a huge pontoon with a massive diving board and some of our group already there, waving and shouting at us. We quickly went over the next bridge and back down to it. We got changed in the public toilets which were disgusting and full of graffiti. We then went down to the pontoon to find it was made up of two pools (one for swimming, one for jumping into) and a huge diving board (shaped like the front of a ship) which you could jump off at various heights. The water for both pools was taken straight from the river and even still had fish in. I went in slowly to try and get accustomed to the water which I found was impossible it was so cold, so I, after a while and like most people, just jumped straight in. After an hour or so of, jump, freeze, pull yourself out, warm back up in the sun and then jump. I then swam a length of the pool, which really hurt in that water. Afterwards we went and got changed and warmed up and walked towards the bridge where we saw some of the 'Hampshire All-sorts' unit and made friends with them. Their hostel (Dan's Hostel which is a big skyscraper) was right next to the swimming so they invited us up to see their room. After swiping about a million cards we reached their room which was so much more spacious, modern and nicer then ours. They also got an amazing view. We then went back down, and they came with us back to the children's park where we played for around 45 minutes before going back to our hostel where we all laid down in the corridor and played the ukulele for quite a while. We were also joined by some of the Cambridgeshire unit. We all chatted and then went for a walk around the local area. After that, the Hampshire unit had to go so we chatted to the Cambridgeshire unit for a bit before going to get ready for the contingent party.
At 5:00pm, our unit met by the elephant outside our hostel (there was a public art display of differently designed elephants allover the city). We were each given 3 drink tokens and we (guided by me), went to the sports center where the 'sportsOrama' had been the day before. Round the back we joined the other units who were waiting in a square. We were greeted by Mike Parkes (UK Contingent Leader) and then were each handed a can of Carlsberg sport (lemonade/energy drink) from our leaders. Afterwards the leaders had gone up to Nathalie (our CMT), who like all the CMT, had been told if they're caught with alcohol, their Jamboree is over, and given her one after telling her they had sneaked it in specially for her. Apparently her reaction was priceless. We then went and made a 'build a burger' and were issued and token free drink and a glow stick. While we ate there we various competing singing acts and circus acts around the large courtyard. I then went inside the large 'barn' which was kitted out with a stage and places selling drinks. I went outside for a bit more and then came in for the first proper act. The Copenhagen drummers as well as other act from 'Denmark's got talent' followed by 'king ov leon' (a tribute band for the kings of leon surprise surprise). In between them and the next act, Mike Parkes spoke to everyone and we saw our presenters for the evening Matt and Darren (formally Max and OB from Hollyoaks). They asked us to stop throwing glow sticks onto the stage, so naturally, they got pelted with glow sticks. After that we had Alphabeat who were amazing. During the party we had two presenters After them, several drinks and having to go outside for a bit because it got so ridiculously hot (in the end they just gave up with the drink vouchers and the stewards at the front of the stage just handed drinks out to everyone near the front). There was then one more act in which a local band played lots of famous songs very well. At the end, Mike Parkes hoped that we'd all enjoyed ourselves and wished us all a good jamboree experience.
Avonasaurus then met up in the corner and quickly walked back to our hostel. We were then told that we would have to be at the bus stop for 8 the next morning so ready to leave by 7:30 which meant we had to be up earlier, so we went straight to bed.
